Services describe a notification; Notify decides how it reaches a person. It owns providers, retries, suppression and the record of what was sent — and pointedly does not own who should be notified or why, because a delivery service reading the organisation graph to work out an audience becomes a second Interchange with worse data.

What it does

  • Email delivery through a provider, with a verified sender
  • Other notification delivery providers coming soon.
  • A queue with backoff, and an attempt row for every outcome
  • Absolute suppression, preventing notification spam to those who aren't interested.
